Renting a 4x4 in Namibia
What type of 4x4 should I rent for Namibia?
For self-drive camping trips, the camping-equipped Toyota Hilux Raider 2.4 Automatic is our primary choice. For longer touring distances in a more powerful Hilux, the SRX 2.8 Automatic. For lodge-to-lodge travel without camping equipment, the Toyota Fortuner. Tell us your route and we will recommend one.
How does the security deposit work?
Every quote includes zero excess on covered claims, so no security deposit is held on your card at handover.
Where do I collect the vehicle?
Vehicles are collected in Windhoek with a full in-person handover briefing. Airport transfer at Hosea Kutako International Airport is included both ways. Handovers before 07:00 or after 18:00 carry an after-hours fee.
How do I book a vehicle?

Is insurance included?
Yes. Every quote includes zero excess on covered claims plus tyre and windscreen cover. Full conditions and exclusions are set out in your written quotation.
What is the minimum rental period?
The minimum rental period is 7 days.
Can I take the vehicle across a border?
Yes. Cross-border permits are available for Botswana, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe, charged per country. Add them in the quote calculator.
Is camping equipment included with every vehicle?
Both Hilux models are available with a camping setup for 1–2 or 3–4 people, or without camping equipment. The Fortuner is supplied without camping equipment, for lodge travel.
What happens if I have a problem on the road?
Every rental includes 24/7 roadside backup, and you deal directly with the owner-managed team rather than a call centre.
